Marrakech Medina · The simplicity of luxury
A grand Marrakchi residence, restored with quiet restraint.
Eight suites around a garden patio and its pool, five minutes from the souks — in a neighbourhood quiet enough to hear the fountain from your room.
The house
An architect’s eye for beauty,
proportion and restraint.
Nestled in the heart of the ancient Zaouia el Abbassia quarter, one of the most authentic in the Medina, Riad Zaouia 44 is a grand Marrakchi residence of quiet, pared-back style. Eight suites — each with its own character, tadelakt bathrooms and quality linen — are arranged around a lush garden patio, shaded by palm trees, orange trees and white roses.
In summer, life gathers by the pool in search of coolness; in winter, on the sun-drenched terraces facing the Medina and the Atlas Mountains. And all year round, the kind of warm, personal welcome that guests mention by name in every review.

Tadelakt, quality linen, the light of the garden patio — eight ways of living in the same house.
Table & services
The life of the house, to the patio's rhythm.
Family-style Moroccan cooking, local and homemade — prepared to order from fresh market produce. Dinner by the fireplace in winter, lunch in the shade of the patio, following the day's inspiration.
In the evening the table is set by candlelight —
before the fireplace, or beneath the stars.

Up on the roofs, the terraces unfold beneath their shade sails — mint tea, fresh fruit cocktails, dinners facing the Medina and the Atlas. Down below, the traditional black tadelakt hammam and its massage room keep the Marrakchi ritual alive, by candlelight.

The collection
Chez Sophie, houses to live in.
In 1995, Sophie Raynal, then an architecture student at the Beaux-Arts de Paris, fell in love with Morocco during a trip to Marrakech. She undertook the renovation of several houses in Marrakech, Oualidia and Tangier, guided by a demand for authenticity — a true aesthetic vision.
Sophie is no longer with us, but she passed on to her family and her team the values born of her sensitivity and her humanism. All of this, you will feel during your visit.
